Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dubai

One of the oldest 5 star hotels in Dubai, it is no wonder that the Crowne Plaza hotel is reminiscent of the 80’s throw-back style and appears a bit jaded in the opulent Dubai landscape. However, what it might lack in glitz, it more than makes up for in its superb service and attentive staff.

Location
The Crowne Plaza Hotel is located on the main artery of Dubai, the Sheikh Zayed road. The location is ideal if you are a business traveler, as it is directly opposite the World Trade Centre, Emirates Towers and the International Convention Centre. Just 20 minutes from Deira (the old business district of the city) and the Airport, and 5 minutes from the new Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the towering Burj Dubai, and the sprawling new Dubai Mall.

Hotel Services
The hotel offers all 5 star amenities, including a basic pool and gym facilities. A word of caution for those seeking a tan near the pool though, the pool area shades over in the afternoon due to the surrounding buildings.

A free shuttle bus service runs to the Airport, the Mall of the Emirates, the Dubai Mall, and the beach. A wide selection of restaurants and bars are located in the hotel and there is easy access to nearby fast food establishments as well. A small shopping mall is accessible from within the hotel with a varied selection of local handicrafts and designer labels.

Dining
At the Crowne Plaza, you will be spoilt for choice as far as your dining options are concerned. There are 13 in-house restaurants and bars ranging from Italian, Japanese, and steak house to international chains such as Wagamama and Trader Vic’s. “Oscars”, the wine bar and “Zinc”, the night club has a great atmosphere and is quite busy on weekends (weekend in the U.A.E is Friday and Saturday). If you are looking for a quick bite, McDonalds and TGI Fridays is located in the mall attached to the hotel.

Meeting and Events
With 14 meeting rooms, the hotel has one of the maximum options for varied layouts (Board-room, Banquet style, Class-room, and Theatre style) and capacities for holding meetings and events in Dubai. This coupled with a dedicated banqueting staff and a 24-hour on call technical staff makes organizing events at the Crowne Plaza a breeze.
